About program

World Civilization Studies examines the evolution of societies from ancient to modern times, focusing on how cultures, ideas, institutions, and technologies have shaped the world across regions such as Mesopotamia, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The field explores political systems, economic structures, belief systems, artistic expression, and social organization within and across civilizations.

Students engage with key historical themes including migration, trade, empire-building, religion, innovation, conflict, and cultural exchange through comparative and global perspectives. The program builds critical thinking, historical analysis, and cross-cultural understanding, enabling students to examine the roots of contemporary global challenges and gain a cohesive understanding of humanity’s shared past and interconnected present.

What students can do after graduation?

Graduates of the World Civilization Studies bachelor’s and master’s programs are prepared for careers in education, research, government, international organizations, NGOs, cultural institutions, media, and global business, as well as roles in policy analysis, public service, and community leadership. The program also provides a strong foundation for advanced academic study, including doctoral programs and professional degrees in law, public policy, and international affairs.

Associate Degree Requirements

Completing 30 Credit with grade of C or better.

Bachelor Degree Requirements

Completing 120 Credit with grade of C or better including Capstone.

Master Degree Requirements

The successful fulfillment of 32 credits in 500-level courses with a grade of C or higher, including the
Capstone course, is required.
