The mission of the Studies of Socio-Economy Program is to study and understand the causes and effects of economic, social, and population changes on community members and groups and to understand and shape economic and social changes. This trans-disciplinary socioeconomic enables students to develop expertise in ideas and policies about the social and political phenomena and global conditions that impact the material condition of society, economy, and inequalities, as well as the practices that enable alternative economic and social approaches to wealth, labor, education, and solidarity economy.
Upon completion of their studies, graduates can embark on diverse career paths within the private and public sectors. Graduates may assume various roles, including but not limited to organizational director, communications specialist, financial expert, entrepreneur, or leader within an innovative community organization and or a community leader. They may also engage in developing new strategies for social change or community development, participate in nonprofit leadership and management, explore social entrepreneurship, contribute to public policy, and drive innovation across multiple disciplines.
Our program provides students with skills to navigate the connections between community entities, local governments, and businesses. By blending theory, research, and personal experiences, the program equips students to advance their careers while making a meaningful difference in the lives of those around them. Students in this program will develop critical thinking skills to understand how they can influence their communities and evaluate the impact of external factors on their communities.
Students will address and develop solutions for quality-of-life and development challenges faced by neighborhoods, towns, small cities, and rural regions, all the way to affect the global scale, while assessing the causes and consequences of economic and population shifts.
This program provides participants with the necessary tools to establish impactful partnerships while fostering the perspective and confidence required to leverage individual strengths to create lasting socio-economic impact.
Combining social innovation and economic challenges, the program offers a framework for grasping opportunities to address socio-economic challenges. Students will learn to build ethical social platforms, manage creative communities, and understand the dynamics of network-mediated social change.
